Every domestic removals job with us follows the same straightforward steps, from a one-bed flat in Kemptown to a family home in Hove.
Fill in our quote form or call us on 01273 917898. For most homes we offer a video quote rather than an in-person survey, so you can record your rooms at a time that suits you and we'll come back with a written quote, normally within a day. If you'd like a ballpark figure first, our moving cost calculator gives you an instant estimate before you request a full quote.
Decide whether you want our trained packing team to handle everything, or whether you'll self-pack and use us for the move day only. Full professional packing includes materials, wrapping and a labelled room-by-room plan - see our packing services page for the full breakdown. If you're going the DIY route, boxes, bubble wrap, tape, wardrobe boxes and mattress covers are all available from our box shop, or hire reusable plastic crates and wardrobe boxes as a sustainable alternative to cardboard.
Our crew arrives at the agreed time, dismantles any furniture that needs it, loads the van carefully, and drives to your new address. At the other end we unload, place furniture where you want it, and reassemble anything that was taken apart. We cover goods in transit as standard, so your belongings are protected from the moment they leave your front door.
We do a final check with you before we leave, room by room if you want it. If anything needs repositioning or a box has ended up in the wrong place, we sort it there and then rather than leaving you to move heavy furniture yourself.

Brighton and Hove is one of the more demanding cities to move in. If you've not done it before, a few things are worth knowing before your move day.
Narrow streets and tight access. The Victorian terraces in Hanover and Kemptown have some of the tightest frontages in Sussex. Many streets off Elm Grove, Islingword Road and the surrounding grid were built for carts, not 7.5-tonne trucks. We plan van size against your specific street, not just your volume of belongings, so the vehicle that arrives can actually get close to your front door.
Resident parking zones. Most of central Brighton and large parts of Hove sit inside controlled parking zones. A removals van cannot legally park on a resident-permit bay without a suspension in place. We can advise on how to apply for a bay suspension through Brighton and Hove City Council, and our parking for removals in Brighton and Hove guide walks through the full process, including lead times and costs. Book the suspension early: applications typically need at least five working days.
Hills and level changes. Parts of Brighton sit on a significant slope. Properties on the Hanover hillside, around Bear Road, and up towards Hollingbury can have long carries from the nearest parking point. We factor this into our crew allocation and job timing, and it's one of several things that can affect your removals cost.
Seafront access. Marine Parade and the roads immediately behind the seafront have their own access constraints, particularly during summer. We schedule seafront moves to avoid peak pedestrian and traffic periods where possible.
We are a professional moving service, based off Springfield Road in Brighton, BN1 6DG, and trading since 2013. Our trained crew of around twenty handles local removals, longer-distance UK moves, packing and unpacking, furniture dismantling and reassembly, and storage at our Brighton depot and Newhaven facility. We also handle office removals in Brighton for local businesses relocating premises, using the same trained crews and vehicles. If your move needs storage built into the same job, our removals and storage service covers collection through to final delivery under one quote.
We hold eight accreditations, including British Association of Removers (BAR) membership, BAR's Advance Payment Guarantee, Trading Standards approved Code of Practice (CTSI), the Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman (FHIO), Move Assured, Checkatrade, Brighton and Hove Living Wage employer status, and Self Storage Association UK (SSA UK) membership. You can see what our accreditations mean for your move, covering the main things customers ask about: are my belongings insured, is my deposit protected, and is the company accountable to a trade body if something goes wrong.
Goods in transit insurance is in place on every move. If you'd like confirmation of the specific cover before booking, ask when you request your quote and we'll confirm the details. For more on deposits, insurance and booking, see our FAQs.
If you're shortlisting Brighton movers, our Google reviews will tell you more than this page can. One reviewer put it plainly: "the 2 removal men were excellent." A sample of their words is below.

If you postpone or cancel your move, we may retain some or all of your deposit according to how much notice is given. If you give us more than 10 working days before the removal was due to start then we would return your deposit in full. If you give us between 6 and 10 working days inclusive before the removal was due to start 50% of the deposit amount would be retained. If you give 5 or less working days before the removal was due to start 100% of the deposit amount would be retained.
"Working days" refer to the normal working week of Monday to Friday and excludes weekends and Public Holidays.
We run two storage products from separate sites. Container self-storage sits at our Springfield Road depot in Brighton, BN1 6DG, in full containers (150 sq ft) or half containers (75 sq ft), with weekday access Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings. Crated storage is held at our Newhaven facility, with each crate holding 250 cubic feet of belongings, and access is by appointment. Container storage suits short-term needs where you want regular access. Crated storage works better for longer stays where access is less frequent. Both facilities have 24/7 CCTV. You can read more about both options on our storage page.
Yes, your belongings are covered while they are in our care. Our hourly rate service includes standard liability cover up to £5,000. For fixed price quotes, liability cover is included within the price and outlined on your quote. Goods in transit cover means your items are protected against loss or damage while being loaded, transported and unloaded. If the full replacement value of your items exceeds the included cover, we charge for additional liability based on the declared value. Full details are in your acceptance and inventory forms. For more on how we protect your move, visit our house removals page
Yes. We offer a full professional pack the day before or on the morning of your move, covering boxes, tape, bubble wrap, packing paper, wardrobe boxes and fragile labelling. Partial packs are available if you prefer to handle some rooms yourself. We also stock everything you need in our box shop if you would rather self-pack. Unpacking at the new property can be arranged on the day. Let us know at the booking stage and we will include it in your quote.
Yes - we charge a deposit for all moves at the time of booking. For hourly rate booking we charge a deposit equivalent to the minimum charge and any liability cover or for fixed price moves we charge a 50% deposit.
No! We have both bearded and unbearded employees!
Unfortunately we are not insured to carry customers in the vehicle with us.
Gas cylinders or flammable liquids cannot be transported on our vehicles so you would need to make an alternative arrangement for these items.
We cannot take provisional bookings. If working on a sale and purchase, we can only confirm a booking at the point of contracts having been exchanged. If you are moving between rental properties, we would require your date of access to your new property to be fully confirmed. We do take a deposit for all bookings - should you have to amend or cancel your booking, depending on the notice given you do run the risk of losing part of all of your deposit.
We're a Brighton-based moving company, but we work all over Sussex and cover the whole of the UK!
We generally have approximately a two week lead time, however, we would advise trying to give us as much notice as you can. Where possible, we will always try to accommodate last minute bookings.
VAT is included in all quoted prices, unless stated otherwise.
Yes. We ask that you flag any items needing dismantling or reassembly at the point of booking. Our team cannot reassemble an item they did not dismantle themselves, so give us the full list when you confirm your move date.
You can expect a first class service from the Brothers. We have completed over 10,000 moves in the last 5 years and we aim to leave every customer satisfied. Find out more about the Bearded Bros team and how we got started.
Our hourly rate service includes standard liability cover up to £5,000 value. In order to benefit from this protection, you must declare the full like for like replacement value of all items to be moved/stored on your acceptance and inventory forms. If the full value of the property exceeds £4,999.99 you will be charged for additional liability cover - this additional amount is determined by the value declared.
For fixed price quotes, liability cover will be included within the price, and outlined on your quote.
Yes, we do - all of our drivers carry a card machine which accepts all major credit and debit cards.
