An office move needs a plan that keeps your business trading. Bearded Bros has been running commercial moves across Brighton and Hove since 2013, with a named contact, a written plan agreed in advance, and a crew that knows exactly which desk goes where. Small, big or unusual, that's the job we do.
A late house move is annoying. A late office move means empty desks and a phone system that isn't live. So we plan around your trading hours, not ours.
Before any van is booked, we agree what has to be live first and build a written plan: timings, sequencing, who's on site at each end. We can stagger work into evenings or across a Saturday if a full day of downtime isn't an option, and you'll have one named contact throughout, not three different phone numbers.
Phased moves, one department or floor at a time while the rest of the business keeps working, are a normal request for us, not a special favour.
A domestic move doesn't have to deal with any of this. Here's what we handle as standard on an office or business move.
IT and server handling. Server racks, comms cabinets and networking kit are flagged at the survey stage, so we bring the right protection and disconnect and reconnect in the order you or your IT provider need, with downtime kept to a minimum.
Desk dismantling and reassembly. Desks, workstations, partitions and storage units can be dismantled, transported and rebuilt on request, so your new floor is usable from day one.
Crate hire, not just cardboard. Reusable plastic crates are available to hire as a sturdier alternative to cardboard boxes for a business move. They stack better and go straight back to us afterwards. If you'd rather use boxes, our box shop covers that too.
Labelling and floor plans. Every crate gets a colour-coded label keyed to a floor plan of the new office, so kit lands in the room it's meant for, not under a vague "IT" sticker.
Secure handling of confidential files. Filing cabinets, archive boxes and confidential paperwork are sealed, labelled and moved as a distinct category, kept separate from general contents throughout the move.
Coordinating with building management. Loading bays, lift bookings and building access get agreed directly with whoever runs the building, not just with you, so the lift is booked and the loading bay is yours for the window you need.
We move single-room studios and small offices above shops in North Laine, mid-sized professional firms across Hove and Lewes, and larger workplaces relocating between business parks. A small studio might need one van and half a day, a forty-desk floor takes a coordinated team across two or three vehicles. We'll tell you honestly which side of that line your move sits on, and price accordingly.
We cover Brighton and Hove and the rest of East and West Sussex as a matter of course, and run moves anywhere else in the UK when a Sussex business is relocating further afield. We don't offer international or overseas removals.
You'll deal with one point of contact throughout, from the first quote call to the final follow-up.
We move businesses across Hove as well as Brighton, and each type of building needs a different plan:
Rather than assume what a given address is like, we ask about your specific building at the quote stage: whether parking and loading are shared, whether there's a yard or dedicated bay, and what site management needs notified of in advance.
Central Brighton and Hove aren't the same job as a business park. The Lanes and North Laine are narrow-street areas in the city centre, a business park or office unit outside the centre is a different kind of site entirely. We ask about the specific building at the quote stage rather than assuming what a postcode implies, and plan the vehicle, crew and timings around what's actually there.
Bay suspensions and controlled parking zones. Brighton and Hove City Council operates Controlled Parking Zones across most of the centre, and a removal van isn't automatically exempt. If your office is in a CPZ or on a busy road, a formal bay suspension is worth arranging in advance, standard applications need at least 7 full working days' notice, and there's an admin fee plus a daily charge for the length of the suspension. Fees are set and updated by the council, so check the council's current parking suspension fees for the latest figures before applying.
On Clean Air: there's no Clean Air Zone or Low Emission Zone covering cars, vans or lorries in Brighton and Hove. The only emissions scheme is a bus ULEZ, which doesn't apply to removal vehicles.

Phased moves, refits and lease overlaps rarely line up neatly with a single moving day, and most businesses need somewhere for equipment, furniture or archive boxes to sit in the meantime. We offer two types of storage that cover most commercial situations.
Container self-storage at our Brighton site on Springfield Road gives you a full or half container (150 or 75 square feet) with 24/7 CCTV, useful if you need regular access to stored equipment or stock during a phased move.
Crated storage at our Newhaven facility is better suited to archive files, records or furniture you won't need to touch for a while: each crate holds 250 cubic feet, and access is booked in advance.
Either option means your old office doesn't have to be fully emptied on day one, and your new office doesn't have to receive everything at once. See our full storage page for details on both facilities.
