How to pack a kitchen (without breaking an egg)

Having over 10 years experience in removals around Brighton and Hove, Sussex and beyond we understand that the packing of boxes, especially boxes containing fragile items can be a major source of stress while moving. Below we have 7 tips to ensure that this process is as smooth as possible and that items are kept safe during transit.

1. Gather Supplies: Before you begin packing, make sure you have all the supplies you need on hand. This includes sturdy boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, sticky tape, and marker pens. We offer moving packs on our box shop to make this process as easy as possible for you.

2. Start with Non-Essentials: Begin by packing items that you use less frequently, such as  serving dishes, and seasonal cookware etc. Wrap each item individually in paper or bubble wrap to prevent damage during transit.

3. Pack Fragile Items Carefully: Fragile items like glasses, dishes, bowls and ceramics require more care when packing. Start by lining the bottom of the box with crumpled packing paper or bubble wrap. Then, carefully wrap each item in paper or bubble wrap, fastening it with tape. Place heavier items at the bottom and lighter items on top to prevent damage. Fill any empty spaces with more packing material to ensure a tight fit and prevent damage during transit.

4. Label Boxes Clearly: As you pack, be sure to label each box clearly with its contents and indicate if it contains fragile items or is a particularly heavy box . This will help you and your movers know which boxes need extra care and where they can be stacked in our vehicle.

5. Pack Appliances Safely: When packing appliances such as blenders, toasters, and coffee makers, be sure to remove any removable parts and pack them separately. Wrap the appliance itself in bubble wrap or moving blankets and secure it with tape or pack appliances in their original boxes.

6. Seal Boxes Securely: Once each box is packed, be sure to seal it securely with tape. Reinforce the bottom and top seams with extra tape to prevent the box from opening during transit.

7. Consider Professional Packing Services: If you're short on time or feel overwhelmed by the packing process then we are able to offer a packing service for you, please contact us via the website or by phone if this is something you require.

By following these seven tips, you can ensure that items being loaded into our vehicle will be safe during transit.
