Professional house removals across Brighton and Sussex, run by a trained, employed crew who know how to get it right first time. Trading since 2013, we handle moves of every size, from single items to full family homes.

Most house moves go wrong for the same handful of reasons: a van that's too small, a crew that hasn't packed before, a quote that doesn't match the actual volume on moving day. We built the Bros to fix those problems first.
Bearded Bros has been handling domestic removals in Brighton and across Sussex since 2013, over 12 years now, with more than 10,000 homes moved in the last five years. Our team is around twenty trained, employed staff, several with five to ten years on the crew, so the people loading your van have done this hundreds of times before. Whether you're moving a one-bed flat in Hove, a four-bed family home in Lewes, or a household up to Edinburgh from a terrace near London Road, we have the right van, the right crew, and the right approach to do the job properly.
Every member of our crew is employed and trained by us, not day-rate agency labour brought in for the day. The team are, in their own customers' words, "polite, courteous, diligent and hardworking," and we have a long-tenured operations team led by founders Simon and Jonny who have been running the business hands-on since the start.
The result is a calmer, faster moving day. Furniture goes on the van the way it should. Boxes come off in the right rooms. The team work to your timings, not theirs.
We move households of every shape:
Single items and part-loads. One wardrobe, a bed, a sofa, a piece of inherited furniture from a relative's house. We do these as part-loads when it makes sense, so you are not paying for a full crew you don't need.
Studios, one-bed flats and small homes. A two-person crew and a Luton or 3.5-tonne van will usually do it in half a day, with packing materials supplied if you want to box up yourself.
Family homes. Three-, four- and five-bed houses, with a bigger crew and a 7.5- or 18-tonne truck. We can supply a full pack the day before, dismantle and reassemble furniture, and run the move over one or two days depending on volume.
Larger and more complex jobs. Listed buildings, awkward access, a long carry from the parking, narrow stairs. The team have packed and moved most of it before, including, on occasion, the things people warn us about. We're "Tetris gods" with a Luton, as one customer put it.
If your move sits outside the standard shape, like a partial move into storage, a renovation decant, or two collection addresses on the same day, tell us when you ask for a quote and we'll build the job around it. We also handle business removals for local companies moving offices or premises, using the same trained crews and vehicles.

A standard Bearded Bros house removal includes:
Trained, employed crew. The right number of people for the volume, usually two to four removers, scaled up for larger homes.
The right vehicle for the job. From a Luton through to an 18-tonne truck. We don't squeeze a four-bed move into a Luton to save money on paper and run over by four hours.
Protection for your property, not just your belongings. Floors, doorways and stair edges are covered before anything gets carried through, and furniture on the van is wrapped in blankets, straps, edge protectors and shrink wrap on soft furnishings.
Furniture dismantling and reassembly. At both ends, on request, included in the quoted price. Beds, wardrobes and flat-pack units that won't clear a doorway whole come apart and go back together without you lifting a screwdriver.
Removals insurance. Goods in transit cover and full public liability, confirmed in writing on your quote. Our hourly rate service includes standard liability cover up to £5,000 value, based on the replacement value you declare on your inventory form, with additional cover available above that if needed. Fixed price quotes have liability cover built into the price, set out on your quote.
Optional add-ons. A full professional pack the day before, packing materials delivered in advance, reusable plastic crate hire (a sustainable alternative to single-use cardboard), and a stop at our Brighton storage facility on the way through.
Send us your move details through the removals quote form, or send a short video walk-through instead of booking an in-person survey. We'll come back to you within one working day with a fixed price.
Once you accept the quote, we hold your date with a deposit. We'll talk through access, parking, and any items that need special handling. If your street needs a permit or suspension, our parking for removals in Brighton and Hove guide covers costs and notice periods.
Pack yourself with boxes from the Bros' box shop, or book us in for a full pack the day before move day. Partial packing of fragile or specialist items is available too, if you'd rather do most of it yourself and hand over the awkward pieces.
The crew arrive at the agreed time, walk the property with you, and start loading. We protect floors and door frames, dismantle any furniture that needs it, wrap soft furnishings, and keep an inventory of the larger items.
At the new property, boxes go in the rooms you've labelled, beds and tables get rebuilt, and furniture is placed where you want it. Unpacking support is available on request if you'd rather hand over the boxes and let the team get the kitchen and wardrobes sorted. We don't leave until you've signed off.
Brighton is the home base, on Springfield Road, and our removals teams cover the whole of East and West Sussex daily: Hove, Lewes, Newhaven, Shoreham-by-Sea, Worthing, Eastbourne, Seaford, Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Crawley and the surrounding villages, as part of our local removals service. For longer-distance moves we go UK-wide, with trucks regularly running up to London, the Home Counties and the South West, and customers moved as far as Scotland, without subbing the job out.
If you want details specific to your town, see our Brighton removals page or our Hove removals page.

Our box shop sells boxes, bubble wrap, tape, mattress covers, and wardrobe boxes, all in stock and available for next-day collection or delivery in the Brighton area. If you'd rather not buy single-use cardboard, we hire out reusable plastic crates by the week. If you'd rather hand the whole job over, see our packing services page for full pack, part pack and DIY options
For the prep itself, the rule of thumb is: pack early, label clearly, and keep the essentials box (kettle, mugs, tea, charger, kids' bedding) in the boot of your car, not in the van. We'll send you a short prep guide when you book, written by the team, not borrowed from the internet.
Sometimes the dates don't line up. Completion slips, the new place isn't ready, or you're decanting for a renovation. We can drop your load straight from the van into our own storage, full or half containers (150 or 75 sq ft) with 24/7 CCTV at Springfield Road, or longer-term crated storage at Newhaven, and pull it back out when you're ready.
See more on storage, or get a storage enquiry going and we'll quote both legs of the move together.
We hold eight accreditations, including British Association of Removers (BAR) membership, BAR's Advance Payment Guarantee, Trading Standards approved Code of Practice (CTSI), the Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman (FHIO), Move Assured, Checkatrade, Brighton and Hove Living Wage employer status, and Self Storage Association UK (SSA UK) membership. See the full list and what each one covers on our accreditations page.
Those eight accreditations sit alongside the basics that matter on moving day: a trained and employed crew, goods in transit insurance, furniture dismantling and reassembly, packing and unpacking support, and an honest quote that matches what actually turns up on the day.
