Bearded Bros has been running removals out of our Springfield Road depot in Brighton since 2013, with more than 10,000 moves on the books and a regular run west along the A27 into Shoreham. Most people start a Shoreham move ringing four or five firms and trying to compare answers that do not quite line up. We try to make ours a short conversation. We have been moving Sussex families and businesses since 2013. Founders Simon and Jonny still run the business hands-on, Tom has been Operations Manager since 2014, and the wider crew is around twenty trained removers, employed by us, most of them with the firm for years. That is unusual length of service for this trade and it is the single biggest reason we keep most of our work in the BN area.
For Shoreham customers that matters in two ways. First, the same lead crew you spoke to on the quote call is the one turning up on moving day, not a face from an agency van. Second, we run our own Brighton self-storage at the Springfield Road site and longer-term crated storage at our Newhaven facility, so if a Shoreham move involves a chain delay, a renovation or a downsize, we can handle the full sequence in-house rather than handing you to a third party.
Our removals service covers single items through to full house and contents moves, with options sized to the property. A two-bedroom flat off Brunswick Road usually goes on a single Luton with a two-person crew. A four-bedroom family house on the Mill Hill side typically needs a 7.5 tonne and a three-person crew, sometimes a shuttle van for the narrower lanes. A Shoreham Beach property south of the river often runs as two smaller vans rather than one bigger one, because parking on the spit is permit-only and the lanes do not love an HGV.
Single items get the same care. If you need a sofa moved from Old Shoreham to Lancing or a wardrobe from Buckingham Park to a flat in Hove, we will quote a small-item run rather than pretending the job needs a full removal.
Full professional pack, half pack, or DIY with materials and advice from us. Our crews are quick with kitchens, china and bookcases, and our furniture pack-down and reassembly service covers most flatpack and bed frames. If you would rather pack yourselves we will deliver double-walled boxes, bubble wrap, tape and protective covers from our box shop the week before the move, and collect anything unused afterwards. Reusable plastic crates and wardrobe boxes are available to hire as a more sustainable alternative to single-use cardboard.
Shoreham completion dates slip. The chain breaks, the buyer pulls back a fortnight, the lease on the new place starts later than the lease on the old one ends. Our Brighton self-storage at BN1 6DG offers full or half containers (150 sq ft or 75 sq ft) with 24/7 CCTV, weekday access and Saturday morning access, all on the same Springfield Road site we operate from. For longer holds we have crated storage at Newhaven, 250 cubic feet per crate, by appointment. The Shoreham crew can move you straight into either, and back out again when you are ready, no second firm in the chain.
Shoreham has a few quirks worth flagging on a quote call rather than on moving day. The conservation area around St Mary de Haura church and the older streets off East Street are a tight fit for anything bigger than a Luton, and several streets are residents-only parking with a window that needs booking ahead. Shoreham Beach is permit-only across the spit and parking right outside the door is rarely possible, so most beach moves use a shuttle setup or a parking-bay reservation through Adur District Council.
The hillside terraces around Mill Hill and Buckingham Park are wider on the road but tighter on the kerb because of cars on both sides. The Norfolk Bridge and the Old Shoreham Toll Bridge are both fine for our trucks but the lights on the A27 either side of the town can add real time at peak hours, so we plan Shoreham starts early. None of this is a problem if it is on the plan. It only becomes a problem if it is a surprise.
Trading since 2013, more than 10,000 moves in the last five years, twenty-strong employed crew, Brighton and Newhaven storage on tap, Checkatrade-listed, Google reviews on the homepage, founders still on the tools. We are not the biggest firm in Sussex and we are not trying to be. We are the firm that takes the same care on a one-bed flat in Shoreham Beach as we do on a five-bed in Hove. We will not quote you the lowest number on the market and we will not undercut a fair quote with a too-good-to-be-true headline. What you pay is what we said you would pay.
Shoreham sits in the middle of our regular run. We do plenty of work in Southwick, Portslade, Lancing, Worthing, Hove, and Brighton, and we move customers in and out of the Steyning, Henfield, and Bramber villages off the A283 north of the town. If you are moving locally inside BN43, the same crew can usually handle a same-day or next-day slot.
We're based in Brighton and our self-storage site is on Springfield Road, but our removals teams cover the whole of East Sussex and West Sussex on a daily basis. That includes Brighton, Hove, Lewes, Newhaven, Shoreham-by-Sea, Worthing, Eastbourne, Seaford, Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Crawley and the surrounding villages.
For longer-distance moves, we go UK-wide. Our trucks regularly run up to London, the Home Counties and the South West, and we've moved customers as far as Scotland. The storage stays in Brighton or Newhaven, but we'll deliver wherever you've ended up.
